Very nice place to have breakfast. Wait was about 25 mins to get in. Service was quick and friendly. Only complaint scrapple was too thin and one piece cost 3.95. A little too expensive for such a small helping. I would definitely return. Good for families, just make sure you are prepared to wait 20-40 min. But good food is worth waiting for.

We went this morning with our group of 10. I knew to expect a decent wait. Wait was about 40min or so. Not too bad Once seated and greeted by our waitress. She made me forget the entire time we waited, one of the best waitresses I've ever had. Polite funny knew the menu Was overall great experience. Food was the usual very good. Although my home fries were just warm. It didn't even matter This is one of our must too places every summer when we're here in OC

We come down to OC every year for a work event. Happy Jack is close to the hotel and never fails to satisfy. This go around, we had coconut pancakes, scrapple and cheese omelet, steak and cheese omelette and chipped beef on biscuits. Everything was delicious. They do a great job with the pancakes. Great service! Just wish the drink glasses came in a larger size.

Fast service. Our server was amazing! They also have interesting pancake choices. Sweet potato, peanut butter chip, even m&m pancakes.

This was my second time here and I had a great experience overall! Went during brunch and was a slight wait but service was quick! Everything was large portioned and definitely worth it. The pancakes were sweet and fluffy which are a plus!

This place makes me really smile. Order the M&M pancakes and prepare to be the happiest camper in OCMD. Everything you get here is good but the pancakes are the best (obviously). Be prepared for a very long wait in season, but it's definitely worth it!

One of the things I enjoy most about vacationing somewhere new is trying out restaurants. Happy Jack was our Saturday late lunch stop. When we arrived around 10, there was about a 30 minute wait. Right at 30 minutes, we were seated. Judging by how tightly packed this restaurant is, I'd say that they definitely value table turnover and increased income to customer comfort. We were practically sitting in our neighbor's lap. It made for a very uncomfortable breakfast. Service was decent, but slow except for when our food arrived. We waited 5 minutes to be greeted, another 10 for our coffee, but maybe only 5 for our food to arrive. Their pancakes were out of this world! Perfectly light and fluffy, and they offer sugar free syrup. Bonus! If you love pancakes, I'd say this would be the perfect place to go as they have endless varieties, including gluten-free. Eggs and grits were decent. My bacon, which I ordered extra crispy, was very fatty and limp. Unappetizing! I'd happily wait another 5 minutes to receive my entree if they cooked my bacon correctly. My man enjoyed his french toast. Aside from good pancakes, this wasn't my favorite breakfast spot. Atmosphere is better for breakfast at Dumpser's down the road.

This is my second time visiting OC and this is our second attempt at trying to eat at Happy Jacks....the place seems to always have a line so my expectations are high. We called ahead (which is the best thing to do if you are en route) the wait was 15 mins but by the time arrived we only waited 5 mins. We were greated with great customer service and Vanessa our service was fantastic. She got me coffee just like I like it...with Hazelnut! She went over the menu with us to assure we got what we wanted. He ordered: Seafood Omlette and Blue Berry Belgium Waffles *he said everyrhing was good* Me: Eggs, Crispy Bacon and instead of the pancakes I up charged to the French Toast. *my food was good too. Again, customer service is EVERYTHING- from the staff greeting you coming in the door, the wait staff and cashier; service. We are glad we ate breakfast here and for a decent price.

The food was really delicious, you must try the sausage.. Everything was on the money, but if you like your waffles on the crisp side, make sure you let the waiter/waitress know.. They came out a little too soft like a slice of bread, but that could be a local thing.. Definitely would come back..

  • Leslie W.

Pancakes were meh but the eggs and bacon were delicious. CALL AHEAD ON YOUR WALK OVER TO GET ON THE WAITLIST! The price was right and this meal was a lot better than the one we had the day before, but isn't anything amazing. I'd still return and just skip the pancakes next time.

Happy Jack pleasantly surprised me. Despite the obscenely long lines, rambunctious clientele, and harried servers I left satisfied. The server was pleasant, though slightly too friendly, and attentive to our needs. I asked for no cheese in my omelette and lo and behold there was no cheese. The eggs were nice. They maintained a delicate yet firm mouth-feel that satisfied the palette as well as the eyes. The toppings were fresh enough and everyone at the table also seemed to enjoy their meal. I'd come back.

I think the thing to keep in mind when you come to a place like Happy Jack is that you need to suspend reality a bit and remember that even in the offseason you are at a tourist trap type of place charges a premium for what it sells in relation to what you get. If you can do that then I guess your experience will be better than if you can't. So we roll in around 10am and with it being the offseason in December there of course is no wait and things start off fine with the exception that the hostess clearly sees that two children are present yet of course puts adult menus down in front of them. Our server corrected that mistake and overall she was great from start to finish. As for the food, here's the part where you need to suspend reality. A Belgian Waffle by itself is over $7? All pancakes options with the exception of one are all over $8? That's nuts especially when you're not talking large portions by any stretch of the imagination and you're also including nothing with them like a meat or toast or coffee. The kids menu was a bit better in terms of value because a drink was included but trust me that when the menu says small pancakes, they do mean small pancakes. Overall I guess you could say that the quality is there and it certainly was served up fast enough but you definitely pay for it in terms of small-ish portion sizes and prices that are a good dollar or two more than they should be for the exact same food you would get at a place twenty miles inland.

This place gets really packed for breakfast, come early because you will be waiting for 40 min at least, food and service is great!!! This is our second time here and we had eggs, bacon, sausage and potatoes, OMG delicious!!! Pancakes are so home made, the taste makes me think of my grandmas cooking.

Went to Happy Jacks for breakfast with my wife while on vacation. We went around 7 am and it was busy, but we got a table right away. Waitress came over to take our order right away and literally five minutes later, our food came out! I got peanut butter chip pancakes and my wife got an omelet. Both were very good and tasted great. Prices were affordable and service was great. I don't generally give 5 stars, but I'm giving Happy Jack 5 because of how fast the food came out. My wife and I thought they had a psychic working in the kitchen because of how fast it came out.

Oh yeah pancakes!!!!.... got here at 7:30am so I could get the fresh coffee and yes indeed is was awesome the food was outstanding and the food came out quick about 10 mins from order to table.the 5 of use ate ourselfs full at the cost of only $60.00 definitely worth the money.

  • L D.

Pancakes were soft, warm, tasty, the Belgian waffle was crispy, big and awesome. Definitely recommend the breakfast meats especially the sausage which was savory and slightly sweet. Our server was very friendly and helpful. Overall experience was good if not exceptional!

This is our go to breakfast spot for the last 10 years!! The waitstaff has been the same since, some have been there over 20 years, which shows the nice family environment they have. The food is always quick and excellent! My favorite is either the chocolate chip pancakes or the sweet potato pancakes with pecan syrup :-) the prices are very reasonable especially since it is a resort town. You must check this place out!

I love Happy Jacks...been going here for years. Family run. Quality if the food is superb and consistent and fast.....or you can take your time and there are no complaints....very friendly. My favorite is the Santa Fe omelet. I am a tea drinker...I like it hot and strong. Along with my regular cup and tea bags, They always bring a LARGE styrofoam container with hot water where I can steep my tea and be able to keep filling up my cup. I am not usually a fan of styrofoam but I love it in this instance....I also can take what is left over with me.

Happy Jack's makes me sad. Squeezed our party of 10 into a booth for 6-8. Open table next to us they said we could split into but wouldn't let us slide them together? Home fries are unseasoned french fry chunks. Broccoli omelette had grey-brown broccoli that looked and tasted like it came from a can. Pancakes and bacon was ok, get those. Won't be back.

What a good spot for breakfast. Came here based on a yelp review and it tuned great. Food was pretty quickly I must add. And the wait to be seated wasn't bad either. I can honestly say I'll be back. Lol

    (4)
  • Mary L.

The wait was longer than estimated. The server was attentive but served cold coffee after stating that the delay was due to the fact that she was waiting for the coffee to brew. The hash browns were just cut up potatoes.

Nice little pancake breakfast. Fast and polite. Clean dining room. Wish the food had been hotter. But was fresh. Bacon probably precooked.

At 11am on a Sunday, this place was packed to the gills. Our party of 4 was quoted a 20 minute wait time. We waited about 10-12 minutes tops. Good sign. All 4 in our party got omelettes and pancakes. After all, how can you come to a pancake house and NOT order pancakes?? The omelettes were big and tasty. I ordered the Chicken Fajita omelette. I've never had an omelette with chicken, or salsa for that matter, but I vowed to go home and try to replicate it. As for the pancakes: fluffy, light and buttery. Our server was not friendly but very attentive. The prices were decent and on par with other OCMD businesses. I thought it a little strange that they would not split nor accept multiple forms of payment on a bill. Overall, a good value and I will visit again next time I'm in town.

  • Jim T.

Experienced this restaurant during a recent visit to OC. Menu was very extensive with lots of different pancake offerings. I went for the plane Jane pancakes. They were very good. Fluffy and tasty. My only disappointment is that they were rather small and only two came with my combo. I would go against and get a side order rather than stack that comes with the combo.

This was the best breakfast place that we've visited in Ocean City! The pancakes & omelets were perfect! They had a large variety of pancakes like sweet potato, red velvet, peanut butter & coconut. The customer service was great. We will definitely return!

  • Aimee S.

It was really crowded but it only took about half an hour to get seated, the waitress took our drink and food orders really quick, the food took less time to make than the wait time. Everyone enjoyed their breakfast, nothing was left on our plates.

Great service. Good variety of omelets and pancakes. Tasty coconut pancakes, banana pancakes and plain pancakes were enjoyed by our crowd. Also, a few types of omelets were enjoyed. Not a lot of extras included for the price.

THE pancake house of all pancake houses!! This seems to be the place to go for breakfast. Every day the place was packed, but no matter how many people were waiting, we were seated within 10 minutes. The best part about this place is that they also offer an amazing Gluten-Free menu!!!! I have Celiac, so it's a necessity. I was nervous about cross contamination, but I was totally fine every time!! The bacon pancakes are a MUST!! I asked a few times to be sure they were GF because they were so good!!! And yes, the bacon was INSIDE the pancake!! Banana pancakes are delish, you can't up wrong with any of them really. Friendly waitstaff, and the food came out very fast!! And the price, WOW, soooo cheap!!! Everyone we sent there (10+ people) loved it!! Side note from my gluten-loving husband: the western omelet is delicious, as well as the peanut butter pancakes.

Went to Jacks on a Wednesday morning, still the line was out the door. We were seated quickly though which I think is the highlight of this place, they will have you watered, fed and out the door by 15 minutes of you sitting down. Coffee was good, and not only is their wait staff quick and efficient but very friendly too. Only down side is the price, alittle higher than I'm used to in a diner type breakfast place.

One of my favorite, go-to places for food in OC. They have the best pancakes, I can never choose between chocolate chip or m&m pancakes.

    (5)
  • Mary N.

Really good and fast service. Straight to the point with the food.. The food is your regular eggs, toast, pancakes type. Nothing else is special, very crowded eating space. Kinda pricey for its simplicity.

    (3)
  • Abby S.

Excellent food! Prices are a little steep for a breakfast place but you get big portions. Service was very fast! My daughter wanted the pancakes from the kids menu. It said "two small pancakes" which was prego for a three year old. They were the same size as mine!

I don't come to ocean city often - last time I was here I graduated high school, if that's any indication of how often I make a habit of coming down the shore. So now that I'm here, I'm making the most if it. Eating everywhere while I can and I checked this place out. Got take away eggs benedict with crab meat and french toast with bananas and caramel. Not the best food. Not even good, but they were super fast considering the volume. No flavor though. No old bay hardly = disappointing. But it did the trick, I guess. I wasn't hungry anymore :/

We were going to have breakfast here yesterday (Saturday), but there was a long line out the door around 11. We went somewhere else and came back this morning for 7. There were probably about four other tables present. Our waitress was very attentive and the atmosphere was awesome. Our food came out super fast. Pancakes - we had coconut and bacon - were delicious! Our meals.... eh not much to write home about. I got the eggs Benedict w crab and my husband got steak and eggs. Both came out room temperature, if not colder. I was tempted to ask our waitress to put my food in the microwave for a minute. I am completely confused as to how that happened. It wasn't busy at all. I'd go here again, but I would stick to the pancakes! The hostess told us the line starts around 830 and goes all morning. Get there as early as possible.

French toast was great, my husband devoured his omelette and sweet potato pancakes, and because my kids REALLY like pancakes with a face on them, our waitress put one on their pancakes with whipped cream. Our waitress was awesome! She was super friendly, willing to help or make changes where needed, just overall seemed to enjoy what she was doing. She even had earrings that were a tiny fork and butter knife which my kids thought was awesome. Great experience!

WE LOVED THE SERVICE! Nikki B was our waitress and she did a phenomenal job of taking care of us. Give her a raise! The food was pretty good and came out quick. We would return to eat here only requirement would be to have Nikki as our waitress again :)

  • Joshua E.

Our meal today was average. I ordered an omelette that just was flat out awful. I got the spinach, feta and tomato that came out as a 5 by 5 square flat as flat can be. Perhaps they use carton eggs, but it wasn't great at all. For a side I chose the pancakes which actually were very good. Seeing how it was a pancake house I should have stuck to that, but ventured into uncharted waters. The pancakes all come topped with powdered sugar so be sure to ask for them without if you don't care for that. The service was excellent, our waitress was very personable and the food came out very quick. Great for big parties or families, but I would stick to the pancakes and French toast. Average in price, it cost us $26.00 for the two of us which for its location didn't seem too bad.

Happy Flapjacks! The long line out the door, even at 10:30am on a Wednesday, was a good indicator of how popular this pancake parlor is. Worth the wait. Terrific, light, airy, perfectly golden pancake stacks. The cakes were on the smallish side at around 6-7" but really we shouldn't be eating more than that anyway! More jogs on the boardwalk earn more pancakes. ;-) Great classic maple syrup and a dark berry syrup to choose from, both delicious. Eggs, bacon, toast were all fine but the pancakes were the namesake and earned their Happy status.

    (5)
  • Maria W.

Service was good, waitress was sweet and attentive. Even though the prices were under 10 each. 9.00 seemed a bit pricey for 3 pancakes, but I think this is probably the norm for a beach restaurant. Kids meals were 5 bucks including a drink. 2.99 for a soft drink is crazy! Food was mediocre at best. Chipped beef was luke warm and had a fishy taste to it, so we sent it back. They were quick to bring me something else. But a manager never came to offer an apology or acknowledge we had an issue. Upon checking out they were selling packages of the mixes they use for pancakes and waffles. Really? I would have never paid that money for mixed pancakes. At least let me think you made my food from scratch.

Today is our fifth visit to Happy Jacks for another great breakfast! The special of the day was awesome and a great deal. Can't beat the price! We've come every day and every meal was super. Each and every member of the staff was very friendly from the greeter at the door to the waitress to the person that checked us out. Also, got some very useful tourist ideas and info. Really going to miss this place! We would come across the entire town to eat here!

The wait was about 10 minutes on a Monday morning they move reallY fast. We had pancakes coffee eggs and scrapple. The pancakes was great, the scrapple was cooked to long, the eggs was scrabbled but the was cooked a little to long. The scrapple omelet had chunks of scrapple. The omelet was dry as well. The staff was friendly, the home fries was a little hard as if the didn't cook the potatoes long enough. I don't like the fact they sale pancakes separate. I didn't see any specials that came with pancakes.

Great omelette, great pancakes, super friendly service, quick kitchen. All you could want right? Well, there was one frustrating thing that kept HJ's from. 5 stars: cleanliness. Now I know and fully realize and understand that 000's of beach goers move through this place annually but, IMO, the off season is the time for the "deep clean". How about wiping down the wall of our booth to remove the syrup? How about scrub instead of just hose down the tiles in the men's room? Especially where the floor meets the trim tile b/c this is where it all settles. Finally, call in the exterminator to pretreat for the 2-3 ants scurrying about. The food, service, friendliness were awesome. Take the time during the down time to make it sparkle.

  • Dabney P. M.

I ordered the eggs Benedict with crab. I told the server the crab tasted bad. She returned saying the cook and manager tasted it and it was fine. This was after I already offered to pay for it. The server then was talking about my complaint to surrounding tables. Recommendation, stay away!

Delish, fast, and friendly service! I was lucky enough to get the gluten free pancakes (I'm celiac) and they were very knowledgeable about the gluten free menu and suggested the GF agave syrup! My son got m&m pancakes and husband got chocolate chip! We loved it and I even bought a teeshirt! GF menu includes many options including waffles and Belgium waffles

was pretty good for breakfast at OC which is hard to find. The pancakes were good but nothing special. The eggs/homefries and bacon were spot on. Robin the server was very good. solid 3 stars but for OC, will bump up to 4.

This is a tasty tasty joint. I order burnerry pancakes and i burnt my tongue on hot chocolatte. Well worth it. Our waitress was about 60 years old and smelled like cigarette stress but i know with my gut that she had a prime pussy; just a real fine section of beef sheets. She was friendly and we gave her a bigger tip then usual. Overall five stars i loved my happy jack cakes.

  • Krystle H.

It was like an ihop, I give it a 6 out of 10. The bacon and toast was good...sausage not so much. Eggs bland , home fries were not what you think they looked like French fries wedges. They weren't nasty but I expected home fries.

Worst restaurant I've ever been to. They advertised they had gluten free pancakes and since I am gluten intolerant I was super excited to eat here. I ordered off the gluten free menu and even confirmed with the waitress. I got sick 20 minutes after leaving and 2 days later I am still suffering.

Pretty popular place. It is nothing spectacular and/or special about the place. Just a regular breakfast place with super fast service and very pleasant staff. It would be nice if they ca offer something natural (at least fresh squeeze OJ or something that could be a staple). The omelettes are good and the specialty pancakes are good. They also have a gluten free pancakes which I thought was great for this type of place.

It always seems like there is quite a line to be seated, so if you don't mind waiting 20 minutes for a table, you will be rewarded with fabulous food! The wait staff are all warm, professional, and attentive. The food arrives very quickly and is wonderful.

Not bad overall, outdated decor, cleanliness and an "interesting" staff knocked off a few points. Our friend tried to give her name on the wait list, i say tried because the hostess was obviously confused by the name Kerri. Name? Kerri, huh? Kerri. How do you spell that? K-E-R-R-I. Then, when we were called the hostess said 'Is there a Kerri party of 4 here?' like she didn't believe we actually existed! We listened and we were the only people she said that too. Weirdddd. The place was outdated looking and not crazy clean. Ceiling AC vents had dust on them and their were cobwebs in places on the ceiling. I didn't feel comfortable being there. Waitress, Brianna, was ok. I got eggs Benedict. It was good however the yolks were cooked ( from my experience it is usually not) the home fries were not very crispy and it was not as warm as it could have been. The side of pancakes were delicious. The dish was a bit more then i expected $12.59, however i think it may have been due to the sides which were included. Although i don't base MY star rating on my friends, one said his waffle was not crispy enough and the other persons omelet was a joke. Imagine flat layer of scrambled eggs cooked, items thrown on top, folded and immediately taken off heat. Cheese was not melted and their was very little egg.

The staff was so friendly, taking interest in our stay in Ocean City, offering up advice and asking what we had done so far. The food was kind of on the expensive side and a little heavy on the salt (specifically the chipped beef), but the food was pretty good overall. I would definitely recommend the steak and eggs; it was cooked to perfection.

One of the best places to eat breakfast in Ocean City is Happy Jack. Just as its name implies, pancakes are Happy Jack's specialty. They usually come in stacks of three, but our server was nice enough to inform us that we could order two for a dollar less. I got to try my friend's baked ham and potatoes with onions and both were excellent. I also got to try a bite of the other flavors of pancakes the other ladies at the table ordered. All were excellent. I got pecan. My friends got blueberry and banana. The servers are friendly. The portions are big. The food is good. I'm sold!

We were excited to try Happy Jacks after family members recommended it. However, we ended up very disappointed. I ordered the seafood omelet and realized, early on, that there were pieces of bacon mixed in with the crabmeat. I said something to the waitress, explaining that I don't eat bacon, and she asked if there was a lot of it. I said that the pieces were small but, yes, I was finding lots of them. She didn't offer to change my order or replace it. Instead she said she'd tell the kitchen. I called her over again when I found more and resigned myself to just eating the pancakes that came on the side. I assumed she'd remove the omelet from the check. When the check came, I saw the omelet listed at full price and she told me she'd spoken to the manager and he'd meet me at the register. The very young looking manager met me at the register, took my check, and said he'd be right back. I was relieved and chatted with the cashier, explaining what happened while I waited. When he came back I saw he'd only removed $3. The meal was $13. I said, "wait, you're only taking off $3?? I couldn't eat my breakfast." He replied with a shrug and said, "sorry about that." I told him that I was really upset and he again apologized but wouldn't take more than $3 off the bill. There was a line and my husband, toddler, and baby were waiting outside so I paid. But I was incredibly disappointed and won't ever return. It wasn't that I didn't like my meal, I couldn't eat it because of an unadvertised ingredient that the kitchen accidentally included. I'm shocked that I had to pay when I didn't receive what I ordered. There are so many lovely well established restaurants in Ocean City where I know the meal would have been removed from my check without any drama. It's a shame that Happy Jacks has such poor service. My husband and daughter really liked their food and the pancakes were nice. Too bad their management made it such a bad experience.

Here is an update from my last visit, their food is everything I expect in a breakfast and very generous portions of food at an average price. Get here early, opens at 7am, this place fills up fast and the lines move fast, but never ends. The food is solid, pancakes are a must, my favorite recent have been their bacon pancakes meal. Bacon bits, mixed in their classic batter, and then served with 4 pieces of bacon and doused in your choice of syrup. Or if you want something more hardy try the waffles with toppings, or one of their omelets. I have been here many times throughout the years, it seems like a place I can't help but go to; service each time has varied and because of this, the 3 star rating. On the busy days, I have gotten great experiences, on the off season, I have had mixed / bad service. Make sure you tell your waitress in advance that you would like separate cheques, when dining with a large group. One of my horrendous experiences involved splitting a cheque at the end of the meal, the amount of issues and complete ignorance for customer service here is deplorable. Parking is plentiful and free, and can be found in their private lot, or on the street. Minutes from the boardwalk in the 20th street area. For one of Ocean City's stables, Happy Jack Pancake House, is a great place to visit and dine!

We usually go to Ocean City a couple of times a year. One of our go to places for breakfast is Happy Jacks. Five of us, (4 adults and a two-year old) had breakfast there yesterday morning. The service was excellent - prompt, friendly and accommodating to our grandson. Unfortunately the breakfast was a bit disappointing - specifically the hash browns tasted like they had been sitting out all morning - dry and hard and virtually tasteless. The scrapple was over cooked and crumbly and the eggs runny. Perhaps they were having an off day. We will not give up on Happy Jacks and will give it another shot on our next trip to OC.

Im a HUGE fan of Happy Jacks! I always make sure to visit everytime Im in Ocean City. Service is super friendly and attentive. Jack's is pretty large but you can expect a wait during the season (just like everywhere else!). I think Ive had a little bit of everything on the menu and you cant go wrong with their eggs benedict or stack of pancakes. My hsband is addicted to their chipped beef and refuses to get it anywhere else. Definitly worth checking out if you havent yet. Super yummy.

It was OK until I found a HAIR in the omlette. The portions were way to small for the price. My son's meal was $5 and all he had was a cup of yogurt and a tiny cup of fruit. My husband didn't like it at all. We will not be back. They can keep their dirty hair.

This was my second time coming to Happy Jack's ... once again another great meal! Last time I came here I got the blueberry pancakes ... which were great! This time around I ordered the cinnabun pancakes ... I can't say enough good things about these pancakes. I wiped the plate clean. Absolutely delicious. If you like cinnabuns I highly recommend you getting these pancakes. Also- really great service.

Worse place ever. Service was below average, they messed up my friend's order... charging separate for each thing and not telling us the refills on coffee are free. Waitress was rude and I hope you guys are all using cash or only have two forms of payment.

  • Allison S.

the problem is, they don't give you enough food. I ordered an omelet and most places, you get a huge omelet stuffed full of ingredients and you might even have to take some home. Not here. It was a flat omelet and after eating it I was literally still hungry (and I don't eat that much). Also, it is so jam-packed with tables it is literally hard to move and you feel that the people at the next table are sitting with you.

I am not really a pancake person... but I have to say I am stil craving their pancakes til this day! I got the m&m pancakes with my two egg meal that came with home fries and I was completely statisfied! So yummy and it all cost under 8 bucks! Definitely will be visiting this place everytime I come to OC.

Best breakfast in OC! I go here at least once every visit to OC. Recently updated menu. The service is fast and attentive. There is always a wait in the summer months. Go during the weekdays for a shorter line.

This wouldn't have been my first choice for breakfast, but given the walking proximity to our hotel plus the mugginess of the summer's morn, I settled for the first place that we saw. There was about a 10 minute wait, which wasn't bad, but you have to wait outside. Luckily, there is seating, but a fan or 2 would have been nice too. Our server was efficient and our food came out relatively quick. My creamed chipped beef seemed over-salty and the hash browns are really mini potato cubes that are deep fried. Overall, it was an ok meal. It was satisfying and seemingly reasonable in price. They had pork roll too, which put a smile on my face.

I thought I do not like pancakes. I decide to try them here because i was in pancake house and i wanted to give them one more chance, i had banana pancakes and they were DELICIOUS.

After a 6 hour drive, we were starving so it's no surprise I cleared my plate. THe food was good regardless! Average portions, certainly not overwhelming. Staff means business: sit down, order everything, pay at the door on your way out. Prices were very reasonable. SPOILER ALERT: The Reese's pancakes are good, but don't let your mind wander. You aren't serviced Reese's Pieces or even cups, it's just the morsels, and I wouldn't be surprised if they are calling them Reese's and they are using generic. Delicious nonetheless.

Nice pancake house! The coconut pancakes were good, but not as good as I hoped. The chocolate chip pancakes were very good. The standout item here is the chipped beef. I had not idea what a "chipped beef" was, but after trying it here - Wow! Very delicious!

This is my second fave place in Maryland for breakfast. Especially because it has my brother's name in the title :0) They have a wonderful variety of pancakes and good selection of beverages. The service is fairly quick as well. Can't wait till the next visit!

Not a pancake person, but the coconut pancakes were amazing! FAST service, we were in and out. All of the staff was super nice. The prices were reasonable and the portions were pretty big. Will be returning!

Great pancakes! They have a great selection of pancakes. I went with the peanut butter chip pancakes and they were awesome. Go early, before like 830 AM, if not be prepared to wait.

Love this place for eggs and pancakes. Once seated food comes quick and eggs cooked perfectly. Waitresses frequently come around with coffee refills. No trip to ocmd is complete without a stop here. Being something to read for a weekend visit - waits can be 45 mins +.

We found ourselves in Ocean City craving pancakes and Happy Jack was where we landed. Don't expect anything fancy or creative here except for good down home traditional breakfast. The ladies who work there were very nice and treat you like family. Both my husband and I found the pancakes to be delicious and fluffy. My husbands meat lover omelete was lacking in meat and was pretty basic, but decent enough.

Save money and time and go to McDonalds for pancakes. At least at McDonalds they will be hot. Our pancakes, toast and french toast were cold and the prices were a bit high considering the poor quality of the food.

Great stop for breakfast. I've tried a few different dishes and haven't been disappointed yet. Quick and friendly service. It is one the "have to go" places every time we are down. Wait time can be a headache during the peak season, but worth the wait.

What a fun place!. A friends coworker recommended this spot for breakfast. I had such a nice meal. They have thin yummy crepe like pancakes. I had the steak eggs with pancakes. My eggs were perfectly prepared and the steak was tasty. This is a great family restaurant with reasonable prices.

So yummy and delicious! A typical breakfast place but that isn't a bad thing!! Everything was perfect and service was great. Lots of varieties of pancakes!! I wanted to order everything on the menu.

Honestly, I haven't had the pancakes, but everybody says their good. I have been to Happy Jacks, five mornings in a row. They have the best French toast ever. Sooooo Good. You can have it several ways, and it is the very best. I was surprised I did not see any other reviews about the french toast. If you like FT Happy Jacks is the place to go!!!

We stopped in for breakfast on our way out of town from our vacation at the beach. I ordered a bacon omlette and they should have advertised it as bacon with a side of egg as I didn't take a single bite that didn't have bacon in it. My partner also ordered the creamed chipped beef over pancakes and it looked and tasted great. Unlike places who skimp on the dried beef, Happy Jack's put's plenty of it in there. I highly recommend Happy Jacks to anyone wanting a great breakfast at a good price.

Went to OC for nice three day weekend and decided to give Happy Jack, hereafter named Crappy Jack, a try. Got seated in about 10 minutes on a Saturday morning, so no worries there. Wifee ordered Western omelet, I ordered sweet potato pancakes with side of ham, and kiddie ordered pancakes with bacon (we will omit his simple dish from the review, plus he rarely has met a pancake he doesn't like). First of all, the prices. My pancakes were over $7 alone, JUST pancakes, no sides, nothing. The "side" of ham was $3.15. Omelet was like $8, and kid's meal over $4. Food came out in 5 minutes, on a crowded day. I kid you not. We were totally surprised ourselves. Although getting your food fast is a good thing, not when they skip on quality. OK, so here's the skinny on the two main items: sweet potato pancakes: smelled faintly of sweet potatoes, but that's where it stopped. If taste would say anything, it didn't say much, because I didn't taste a sweet spud in there anywhere. The taste of the pancake overall was meh. I still think that Cracker Barrel has some pretty good pancakes, and they're much cheaper. Definitely not worth the money for the rather mediocre sized stack of three cakes I got. Western omelet: OK, this one was BAD. First, the eggs were not fresh eggs - they were those liquid eggs I'm sure everyone has had at some point. The ham, green peppers and onions were so perfectly cut, that they surely had to have been frozen and pre-bought. With the omelet, you get a choice of a side, and my wife got the diced hash browns. She didn't even get toast, because toast would have been her side. The potatoes were cold and tasted like they too were prebought and likely were sitting in a giant bin, and they just threw the bottom of the bin in bowl for her. Overall, not a place worth going to again. Save yourself some money friends and head to McD's if you want mediocre food. How this place packs 'em in is beyond me. The search continues for a decent breakfast diner in OC.

Very popular place locally. Found many people waiting to be seated when we got there, but were seated pretty quickly (~10 minutes). Good tasting, generous portions, and good service. Can't ask for more in an establishment like this.

I wanted a calorie bomb for breakfast and what could be a better choice than a pancake house! The wait was only a few minutes at 9:30 on a Saturday morning. They take your name at the hostess stand, make you wait outside, and then you walk into a separate door to be seated. Our waitress was friendly, but obviously new. My fruit cup was fresh and yummy. Sweet potato pancakes were so good. Lots of cinnamon flavor, dense, loaded up with syrup and just what I wanted. My husband didn't finish his pecan pancakes (he was hungover!) so, I ate his too. Yes, they were incredible. Breakfast for four was cheap, like breakfast should be and so very yummy. I would come back no problem.

I did not like their pancakes. They were dry & tasteless. The portion of breakfast potatoes you get is a joke! Would be a last resort if I was really hungry! Servers were very nice though.

WONDERFUL food and wonderful service. This place is great. I can't wait to go back. And their prices are good also. Pancakes are to die for and the bacon is nice and crunchy.

A sentimental breakfast favorite for me in Ocean City. A yearly tradition with the family when we still visited OC each summer. Staff is always friendly and attentive even when the place is packed... assuming it hasn't changed, get here early in the summer or expect a wait. Everything I've had to eat here has been delicious but I usually keep it simple and stick to the ham and cheese omelette with pancakes. So good and extremely consistent year to year. Will be back, hopefully soon... love this place.

The pancakes we're big and very buttery and good says my girlfriend. The home fries were good as well as the turkey sausage. Cheap fast and delicious.

Its good a tasty fast service and not a long wait but it was packed....links are excellent and regular pancakes are fluffy and buttery...loved it. Someone had a review saying that this is no Ohio..well thank God is not

We were really excited about this place for some reason. Looking back, I'm not sure why. The food was..."meh" at best. The wait was ridiculous, out the door even. The food when it came wasn't even all that hot. Pancakes were ok...sausage was bleh. I wouldn't recommend.

Blueberry Belgium Waffles with Whipped Cream?! What could be better! Yummmy! Stick to the pancakes and waffles and you'll be fine! The omelets and homefries...not so great! And a hint of Old Bay in my iced tea...twice?! What's up with that? A bit of a wait, but those waffles were worth it. Clean and affordable.

Good value for the money and good food. Had the turkey BLT which was great and big enough for two. My son had the bacon pancakes which he really enjoyed. The wife had the cheese steak which was good but there certainly are better ones out there.

Happy Jack Pancake House isn't Denny's or I Hop but they are good. Their portions are not the biggest I've seen but on the flip side of that who needs to be served more than they can eat? Their waffles are delicious and they sure know how to cook bacon like it should be.

Blueberry pancakes had real blueberries baked in not overpowering not that phony compote blueberry just good. Bacon pancakes were a real treat with pieces of bacon baked in. Buckwheat pancakes were also very good. 15 minute wait and worth it!

  • Ty T.

VERY fast service. Normal sized portions, not the XXL ones I'm used to but very sufficient (6' 3" 235lbs here). They have a dozen or so varieties of pancakes, I went with the standard blueberry and a side of eggs and potatoes. All in all a good experience; I'd recommend. Side note... Stay as far away as you can from Ocean bites... They're the WORST!!!

happy jack is a nice throwback find...been there for years, made my fam happy with friendliest service in OC and breakfast choices for all tastes. a little on the expensive side but it's OC, has to be expected. Open on weekends only in the offseason, 8 am - noon, and I don't think I'd wait in line for it in season, but friendly, attentive, and FAST service make this place a good choice.
